We have received a heavy volume of calls to the office regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the National Shire Horse Show.
Following the announcement last night by the Government that there are to be no cancellation of gatherings or events; the Show WILL go ahead. There will be minor changes at the Show and how it operates, but the build for the National Shire Horse Show will commence on Monday.
We encourage all visitors to the Show to practice good personal hygiene and to wash hands in accordance with the NHS guidelines. There are a number of hand washing areas at the venue and we will also have hand gels around the showground for use. The Society does not support contact greeting during this time and encourages visitors to also carry hand gels, and to cover mouths and use tissues etc when coughing/sneezing.
The AGM will be POSTPONED. The new date for this will be released at a later stage. It will NOT happen at the May Council gathering. The announcement of the candidates gaining Council places will take place on Friday before the start of the Dressage and will be posted on the notice board. The Annual Dinner and Party night will be CANCELLED for the 2020 Show.
The decision to POSTPONE the AGM and to CANCEL the Dinner and Party night has been taken in an attempt to take reasonable steps to reduce large numbers of people in confined spaces. A refund for your tickets can be given, or we can hold your bookings for the 2021 show. We have a list of people booked and paid on the relevant evenings. Please let us know in due course, we will have the lists with us at the show at the reception.
We ask that anyone with underlying health issues that could be affected by COVID-19 do not travel to the Show and that people act with common sense and do all we can collectively to ensure that we have a successful but safe Show.
The Society hopes that the members are supportive of the work that we are tirelessly doing to deliver the Show and that understanding is given at this time please.
We all look forward to a successful Show, and welcoming our loyal and supportive members and visitors.
