Shire Horse Society visits the Household Cavalry

We were delighted and proud to share our knowledge and skills about presenting Shires with the Household Cavalry.

The visit involved a trip to the Knightsbridge barracks.

Shire Horse Society secretary David Ralley-Davies explains: “We were invited to talk to the troop about the best means of caring for the feathers on their drum horses and give them some ideas on how best to present them for parade.

“They were seeking advice from the Shire Horse Society and we feel very honoured to have been asked to do this. As a small thank-you we were treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the barracks.”

It was the first time that the Shire Horse Society had been officially invited to the barracks to offer our services, and we were very proud to do so.

The delegation included experienced exhibitor Walt Bedford, Richard Green, head horseman for Thwaites Brewery, Jim Yates, chairman of the Executive Committee, and David Ralley-Davies. Images from the visit will be uploaded to our gallery section and facebook page shortly.
