Shire Horse Society announces ‘official’ HOYS qualifier event

The smallest county in the country, Rutland, will see the Shire Horse Society host their ‘official’ Shire Horse of the Year Show qualifiers.

The Shire Horse Society are pleased to announce that they are re-scheduling these qualifier classes following the cancellation of its National Shire Horse Show in conjunction and by kind permission of the Rutland Food and Farming Festival at Rutland Showground, located on the outskirts of the market town of Oakham.

The Shire Horse Society’s Secretary, Victoria Clayton said  ‘It is important for the breed that we ensure that we run the HOYS qualifiers allocated to the National Show, working alongside Rutland Agricultural Society to host the event will provide some much needed publicity to the breed that has suffered during the pandemic.  We hope that entries will be buoyant and alongside the showing we will have the demo team on hand to show case the breed further to what we hope will be a very enthusiastic audience.’
