The Society is currently working towards the delivery of the National Shire Horse Show in 2021. The show was very sadly cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19 and as such, the Society is keen to avoid a similar scenario.
Therefore, the Society can announce that the show for 2021 will move to a new venue and will be outdoors. The show will move to a two-day format over the weekend of 13th and 14th March 2021. The venue for the show will be Newark Showground, NG24 2NY.
The Show Committee have spoken at length during zoom meetings and believe that a move outdoors gives the most realistic chance to delivering a show in 2021. It is unlikely that gathering at indoor venues of our size will be permissible.
Victoria Clayton, Society Secretary and Show Director said ‘2020 has been a tortuous year and one we will be keen to forget. Looking to 2021, Newark Showground gives a wonderful outdoor platform that can accommodate all the elements of the National Shire Show. It provides hard roads and tracks, undercover stabling and two wonderful rings in which to enjoy our fantastic breed’. She added, ‘it is very much hoped that the membership will understand and support the move and see that every effort is being made to produce the National Show’.
Schedules will be available in the coming weeks so please keep an eye on social media and the website (www.shire-horse.org.uk).
Traders who rolled over their trade stands will be contacted in the very near future and we hope that they will be able to support the show at the new venue.
