Mr David Kay
The Shire Horse Society is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Mr David Kay who was a magnificent supporter of the Shire Horse Society and the Shire horse breed.
Mr Kay was a former Managing Director of Thwaites Brewery who reintroduced Shire horses to the Brewery in 1960 after an absence of thirty-three years.
Mr Kay was President (1967-1968) of the Society and as a life-long supporter of the breed he was also known for giving talks to charities, clubs and societies.
A kind and well-respected gentleman, he was always the source of sound advice. He was honoured at the 2022 National Shire Horse Show with a presentation made for his loyal service to the Society by Her Royal Highness, The Countess of Wessex.
