NEW FOR 2026 - The Heavy Horse Crafts Best Plaited Awards ...

We are please to announce a new award for 2026, very kindly sponsored by Heavy Horse Crafts. The awards will be launched at the National Spring Show where the Best Plaited Mare, Gelding and Stallion will all receive a rosette, and with the Best Plaited Overall receiving a sash and a voucher to redeem via Heavy Horse Crafts.

The aim of the Heavy Horse Crafts Best Plaited Awards is to encourage and celebrate exceptional standards of turnout, inspiring both current competitors and the next generation to strive for excellence. By recognising the skill, dedication and hours of careful preparation that go into traditional plaiting, the award helps preserve and promote the high standards that are so important within the heavy horse community.

It also proudly champions those who often work behind the scenes, as the talented individuals who plait are not always the ones in the show ring, yet their craftsmanship plays a vital role in every successful presentation.

The awards will also be run at the National Summer Show, more information to follow when the schedule is released.

Grateful thanks are recorded to Heavy Horse Crafts for their enthusiasm and support with this initiative!
