Council Elections 2026 - Get involved with the Society!
With the end of the year fast approaching it is time to think forward to the 2026 Council election.
How do I become a Council Member?
All members of the Shire Horse Society can stand for Council once they have been a full member for three consecutive years.
Currently three meetings per year are held and those wishing to stand are invited to submit their application together with photograph and brief CV of no more than one hundred words.
Please be mindful this information will be printed in the Annual Report & Accounts and sent with the ballot paper to every member to vote for twelve members.
For the avoidance of doubt, any new applicants must be proposed and seconded by Shire Horse Society members.
All applications including those retiring from Council in 2026 should be sent via email to info@shire-horse.org.uk prior to 10th November 2025.
The Council’s purpose is to assist and advise the Board in delivering the strategic vision of the Society. To this end the Council;
* provide membership support and advice to the committees and sub-committees of the Society.
* support improving the breed of the Shire horse including promoting the breed and breeding and appointing Judges in accordance with the Regulations.
* act as a point of communication and liaison with the membership to put their views across at meetings.
* advise on the Regional Societies
* deal with such other purposes as the Board shall determine from time to time.
