Shire Horse Society 2013 Spring Show Peterborough is once again preparing itself to host the largest gathering of Shire horses in the world. The date has been set for the Shire Horse Society's 2013 Spring Show, which will return to the East of England Showground on March 15, 16 and 17. Enthusiasts will travel from across Europe to show their horses in the event with spectators expected to come from all over the world. The event is a fantastic day out for the whole family to enjoy and provides a rare insight into the magnificent breed as well as raising awareness of the Society's work. The three-day event will festure a host of demonstrations and competitions, vintage tractors, farm machinary displays, the heavy horses farriery competiton and, the highlight of the weekend, the Shire Horse Parade in the Grand Arena. A number of trade stands and food halls will also feature at the event. Tickets are available to pre-order now and cost £8 for adults, £6 for OAPs and £5 for children (Sat/Sun). 5th ANNUAL PLOUGHING MATCH The 5th Annual Ploughing Match will be held on Sunday 24th March at Segenhoe Manor, Ridgmont, Beds, MK43 0TY, by very kind permission of the Land Owners Nick & Maria Spearing and farmer John Fraser. The entry fee is waived for those entering the horse class. It is organised again by the Ouse Valley Group of the NVTEC. Please note that this date is two weeks later than usual, so that it doesn't clash with Mothering Sunday or the East of England Shire Horse Show at Peterborough (Easter is the following weekend). In previous years we have had over 100 entries, and have had to turn away entries as we were full. The land is light sandy free draining soil. There will be a hog roast and other hot food and drinks available.
For technical questions about the match call Max Cherry on 01525 404504.
