BUY YOUR FIRST SHIRE TRAINING DAY

Aimed at; This course is ideal for not only someone thinking about buying a Shire but a new owner too.
About The Day; A famous Shire Horseman will give an informative talk on what to look for in the horse to suit you, how to feed and care for and some top tips on going to buy your first Shire Horse.
Then for the hands on! Get up close and personal with our magnificent Shire Horses, experience “hands on” some of the common practices, including feather washing and drying and the art of plaiting (braiding).
A light lunch will be included. The whole day is light hearted and informal and questions are welcomed.
SINGLE HORSE DRIVING MASTERCLASS DAY COURSE
17th July & 31st July 2011

With Waldburg Shires Lord Mayor’s Coachman, David Lawless, with other Top driving instructors (depending on numbers)
Aimed At; Ideal for the horse owner with a wish/ambition to drive.
About The Day; The day starts with a talk on harness, selecting a harness horse, selecting and identifying different harness types for different variations of work, training the harness horse and caring for and feeding such a horse.
A light lunch is included and then for the practical! Prepare the horse and vehicle for work, a demonstration of harnessing then it’s time to put you to the test building up the harness on the horse from scratch!
Long reining allows you time to get hands accustomed to the “Coachman style” (English) of driving before a demonstration of correct procedure of putting the horse to the vehicle, then driving. Everyone will get a taster of driving the horse to a vehicle.

PAIR DRIVING MASTERCLASS DAY COURSE
14th August & 4th September 2011

Aimed At; Ideal for the horse owner or single driver with a wish to go on to drive a pair.
About The Day; The day starts with a talk on harness, selecting harness horses and pairing them, selecting and identifying different harness types for different variations of work, training the harness horses and caring for and feeding such horses.
A light lunch is included and then for the practical! Prepare the horses and vehicle for work, a demonstration of harnessing then it’s time to put you to the test building up the harness on the horses from scratch!

IN HAND SHOWING MASTERCLASS
7TH AUGUST 2011 11AM-3PM

One of the biggest and long established names of the Shire Horse World, Walt Bedford, offers top tips and advice on turning out and practical demonstrations of show preparation. A light lunch is included followed by an afternoon of tips on “Ring Craft” and how to show your horse to the best of your ability, again with practical demonstrations. The day is light hearted and questions are invited.

(At the junction of A1- A47, 5 miles north of the Showground)
Four courses to learn Shire Horse Management from buying a Shire to driving a pair
(Those attending will receive a certificate)
THESE COURSES WILL BE RESTRICTED IN NUMBERS.
Cost per day is £75 for Members and £120 Non Members.
This includes lunch. All courses would run from 10.30- 3.30 pm.
